First stop Brownlow House, Lurgan where they set up the Headquarters for the US Army and plans for secret operations were drawn up.

Today an excellent WW2 Exhibition with video footage open to the general public is situated in the magnificently restored 19th Brownlow House.

From here they filtered out all around County Armagh into old Castles, Manor Houses, Stately Homes, Estates etc

All over the County of Armagh thousands of Gi’s were billeted.

The Mall, within the ancient City of Armagh, was the setting for an address to the troops by Lieutenant General George S Patton.

The countryside was transformed with numerous Military training sites and the locals began to embrace the American culture; many found true love.

These old links with the US Army life here in Ulster are popular tourist sights which relatives are still very keen to see today.
